Project Description

After an exhaustive search which began in January of 2024, we are happy to announce that Texas Children's Hospital in Austin, Texas will be the recipient of the One Love mural.

This beautiful hospital is just two years old. The interior design is filled with bright, cheerful colors and art depicting different interactive fantasy environments which the children can explore. Some of the art includes Austin-specific animals such as Longhorn cows and bats (Austin has the largest colony of Mexican freetail bats outside of Mexico living under a downtown bridge). You are welcome to use those in your art if you like.

Along with the hospital, and in keeping with their existing environment, we have come up with the theme that you all will be following for your piece:

Make Believe

This theme will offer all of you a wide range of interpretation and provide an opportunity to have fun with it. This is for children. All images should invoke a joyful experience for the children and other visitors to the hospital. We encourage the use of color if you are comfortable working with dyed veneers. Also avoid the use of copyrighted figures or cartoon characters.

The hospital has asked us to consider creating two or even three panels that can be hung together or in different areas. Toward that end, we have determined a size of 8” x 8” for your art. This will also keep the art simple and hopefully not take too long.

All art should be glued up on 1/4” MDF, finish sanded but NOT finished. We will apply finish after the panels are assembled. Each artist should sign their piece with their name, city, and country.

Please note that pieces that are not to the correct size or not square cannot be used.

The HARD DEADLINE for submissions is July 30, 2026. All completed pieces will be shipped to:
